So is it hard to feel inspired at home or is it just me? While I normally work from home, my mojo is lacking with all the crazy stuff going on in the world right now. (I hope you’re all staying safe and inside.)
I get a lot of inspiration for my projects by getting out of the house, whether it’s browsing at Barnes & Noble or taking a trip to a museum. But that’s not happening. So to tackle my very long to-do list and to keep myself going, I’m looking for inspiration that’s a lot closer to home.
Here are some ideas to help you feel inspired at home and keep your creativity pumping.
Do some window shopping for inspiration
Anyone else go browsing around the internet and stick stuff on Pinterest inspiration boards? I have lots of private boards with ideas for designs and projects.
Creative Market is like Target for me. I stop by to browse, but end up with a cart full of stuff! But along the way, I search for themes, colors, or templates to help spark some ideas.
I also like to play with the color tools at Behr. There are great color schemes and room ideas to explore.
Portent’s Content Idea Generator is my favorite title generator because of the snark it hurls back at you. Check out the funny ideas when you enter random words.
Back in February, I visited the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, which is one of my favorite places to go when I need to recharge. You can take a virtual tour now of the Met, and other places like the Lourve! Because my dream trip to Paris is definitely on hold.
Here are some more virtual tours you can enjoy in your pjs!
Inspiration inside your home
Your home might have ideas piled up right in front of you. It’s a good time to browse those coffee table books or the magazines that are piled up on top of them! Get inspired by the photography, layouts, themes and colors.
Dig out some old photo albums, scrapbooks, or yearbooks. Looking back at your adventures and things you love can loosen up ideas.
Spend time outside – in a socially distant, safe way of course! Go for a walk or set up your laptop outside. I’ve had a lot of ideas pop in my head while I’m out walking my dog.
Learn something new
If you’re just not feeling it, take a break and do something fun. It’s a good time to learn something new. Whether it’s challenging yourself to try Photoshop, trying a new craft, or testing a recipe, learning something new can open up your mind to ideas! I’m trying out Duolingo to practice French.
