Why losing my job was the best thing ever
A few years back, I lost my job at a newspaper company where I worked for almost 20 years. We got news that my department was shutting down, and I was actually excited about this and looked forward to change. The work had been stressful and my commute was exhausting.
I took the summer off while I was collecting my severance pay. When it was time to search for a job, I felt really discouraged. I was interested in social media jobs, but all the openings wanted a marketing degree. Jobs in design or editing would put me back at square one with lousy hours.
I had some conversations about working from home with a friend who has done very well running her own business. She suggested I try to earn some money as a Virtual Assistant or a Pinterest VA. I found a post on Pinterest that led me to a course that has been one of the best investments I’ve made in myself.
Invaluable tricks and tools for your own business
Abbey Ashley’s Savvy System gave me all the tools I needed. I learned how to set up my business and create a website. I learned marketing tricks, and was introduced to lots of tools that people use in home businesses.
