Do you love making lists to help you stay focused and organized? I am all about the lists!
If something is not on my list, it’s not getting done.
But there are times when I get overwhelmed by my to-do lists with all the things I need need to get done for my business, in addition to appointments, cleaning, family stuff, and volunteer work.
What to do first: Listing my priorities
When I’m going into panic mode, I find it helps to prioritize my tasks. I pick a few big deal things that I’m going to get done first and foremost. Even if those are things I don’t want to do!
Then I also make sure to schedule something fun or some me time. Maybe a walk, some time with a book or just time to do a crossword. Because I deserve breaks!
The act of writing the top few things on paper or in an app gets me out of the anxiety zone and helps me re-focus. I’m making decisions about what’s important. I try to limit those priority tasks to two or three things. And when those are done, I move on to the next tasks or even start over and list the next two most important things.
