ORIGIN STORY
I have known Diana Perez since high school and we share a love of books. Here we are a year ago at BookCon in New York City.
This year, we’ll be returning to BookCon and Book Expo, but instead of waiting on lines to meet authors, Diana will be signing her own book – Landon Rides the Subway, an adorable children’s book about a boy’s first trip on the New York City subway on his way to the Museum of Natural History. When I announced that I was starting my own social media and design business, she reached out to me to help her with her website and social media profile. We had a meeting at her home to discuss a custom service package. (Bonus: getting to hang out with Landon – the little guy with us in the photo!)
THE WEBSITE: LANDONSBOOKS.COM
Diana wanted a site to serve as a home base for information about her book, news and events, and we wanted to launch before the upcoming Book Expo. We went with a Squarespace site for LandonsBooks.com. The template designs are simple, but elegant, and easy to customize. The site will be easy to upgrade if Diana chose to add a blog or a shop. Diana also wanted a gallery to feature photo of readers with the book, and Squarespace makes it easy to add and edit photos.
SOCIAL MEDIA LAUNCH
I helped Diana launch her social media accounts, including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Pinterest, and created custom artwork for each platform. The LandonsBooks Facebook page got 100 likes in one day!
NEXT STEPS
I am working with Diana to show her how she can manage her site and sharing best practices for the social accounts. We’ll be at BookExpo and BookCon, where I’ll be helping her with photography and social posts. We’re also planning a book launch party.
I’m so happy to be able to help Diana on this journey, not just because she’s a friend, but also because she’s worked so hard to get published and to build her brand.
