I’m Robin and I want to welcome you to my new site! We are just getting started here at Robin Cabana Media and have some exciting projects in the works. (We refers to me. I don’t know why I’m using third person there!)
A little about me: I’m an aunt to five awesome kids and mom to my pug, Penny. I am a Jersey girl, and yes, I love Bruce Springsteen. But love is not a strong enough word for how I feel about Star Wars, Doctor Who, Hamilton, My Little Pony, The Beatles, Game of Thrones, Jane Austen novels and all the other stuff I’m obsessed with!
I worked in journalism for about 20 years before I lost my job in July 2017. I found the job hunt very frustrating. Most print journalism jobs have gone away, and I would have to return to working nights and holidays. Other jobs required specialized degrees, and I didn’t want to go back to school. Instead, I’ve focused on online learning and books to expand my skill sets.
So here I am a few months later. I decided to create my own business and it has been super scary. I have had some excellent guides along the way: Melissa Hunter, my partner at Family Video Network and various YouTube projects; Holly McCaig, a tremendously talented artist and entrepreneur; Krista Mettler, a rock star in the music PR world; and Abbey Lynn Ashley and her team at The Virtual Savvy. I thought my family would think I was crazy starting this project, but they’ve been so supportive. I’m really excited about helping others and working on my own. I was recently able to manage social media accounts for clients while I was at Disney World!
