Here are five reasons why Canva templates can make your life easier, whether you're new to graphic design, a pro or somewhere in between.

Are using Canva templates in your design projects? Templates are one of my favorite design tools. I’ve used them to create digital scrapbooks, candy bar wrappers, product previews, magazines, and countless other things. I am such a nerd for templates that in a previous job, I became the template guru, creating hundreds of them for newspaper pages that helped us design on a deadline.

Now, I’m using Canva to make templates to help make your life easier. My Build Your Own Branding Templates can be used to create lead magnets, social media posts, and more. (And I’ll even help you with the process as you use the templates for your design projects if you go for the templates + coaching option.)

(Please note: I am a Canva affiliate and may receive a commission if you sign up for a pro membership.)

No matter what you’re creating, a template is a great starting point.  They can help you get things done quickly and easily, and stay organized. (Quick, easy and organized are like my favorite things! Want some help staying organized? Check out my to-do list freebies a the end of this post!)

Here are five reasons why using Canva templates can make your life easier whether you’re new to design, a graphics pro, or somewhere in between.

Canva templates - blank screen

1. You don’t need to sit in front of a computer looking at a blank screen.

Do you ever open up a document and stare at the white background, with no idea where to start? When you’re using a template, you’ve got a head start. With the structure in place, you can add text, photos, and make some tweaks to make it your own. You can always change things around to work for you.

2. Use the template to help you decide what to create.

Not sure what kind of freebie pdf to create for your audience? Browse your template stash for ideas. The BYOB templates, for example, include options for checklists, workbooks, welcome kits, that you can use for inspiration so you can get rolling.

3. Get the specs right.

Whether you’re printing your designs or posting on socials, it’s important to work in the correct size and format . Canva has tons of pre-set document sizes, which I used to create my templates. For social media, you’ll want to know what size is best for each platform, and also to know how graphics will look on different devices. I’ve included an overlay for the Facebook banner template to help you make sure the important parts of your design aren’t getting cut off.

4. Use a template to get something done quickly.

Need to create something in a hurry? Maybe a client wants a last minute worksheet? Want to whip up a presentation for a pitch but you only have a few hours until your meeting? Templates can help you wrap something up in a flash without having to overthink it.

5. Create a consistent look across your products and socials.

Templates can help you establish a style that you use over and over in your business. You can add your branding elements, customize your colors and make your designs match your website or other products! Canva’s pro tools also make this easy to do. You can add custom fonts and build a brand kit.

Canva Color Change

TIP ALERT! Did you know you could change the colors on all pages in your Canva document with one click? I only just learned about this Canva feature. Game changer!  Select your new color and at the bottom of the sidebar to the left, you’ll see a checkbox giving you the option to change all. And, magic.
